freelancer·tools is a free CRM and invoicing product for Indian freelancers. This page says exactly what data we handle and where it goes. If anything is unclear, write to hello@freelancer-tools.com.
What we collect
Your account. You sign in with Google or GitHub. We receive your name, email address, profile photo and the provider's account id. We never see or store your Google or GitHub password.
Your business records. The contacts, companies, deals, notes, follow-ups, invoices, quotes, payment records (including TDS amounts), business details (UPI VPA, GSTIN) and logo you enter or import. This data is yours. We use it only to run the product for you, and we do not sell it or share it with advertisers.
Waitlist. If you join the waitlist we store your email, the page you joined from and your language, and use it to tell you when your account is ready.
Usage analytics. Vercel Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights and Google Analytics measure aggregate usage and performance. Your business records are never fed into analytics.
Cookies
Functional cookies only: your signed session, language, theme and sidebar preferences. Google Analytics sets its own cookies. We run no advertising cookies. The product is planned to be ad-supported later; ads will never appear on pages your clients see, and this page will be updated before anything changes.
Pages your clients see
Public invoice and quote pages live behind long, unguessable links and are excluded from search-engine indexing. Anyone with the link can open it — treat the link like the document itself.
Transactional email only: documents you choose to email to a client, sign-in related mail, and at most one reminder digest a day when something of yours is overdue. No marketing mail without your explicit consent.
Google Calendar
If you connect Google Calendar we request the narrowest events permission, create only the events you explicitly push, and store the connection token with our database. Disconnecting in Settings deletes the token immediately.
Where your data is processed
A small set of processors, each doing one job: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Cloudflare R2 (logo and file storage, private), Resend (email delivery), Algolia (search over your own records, scoped to your account), Sentry (server error reports, configured without your business records), Google and GitHub (sign-in; Google Calendar if you connect it), Google Analytics (usage). Some of these process data outside India.
Export and deletion
Export everything yourself, any time, as CSV from the app's Import page. To delete your account and data, email hello@freelancer-tools.com from your account address; we delete within 30 days and confirm. Self-serve deletion is planned; until then, email is the way.
Security
Everything runs over HTTPS. Sessions are cryptographically signed, reset tokens are stored only as hashes, files live in a private bucket reached through expiring links, and production access is limited to the operator.
Changes
This is a young product; this page will change as it grows. The date above moves with every change, and material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. This policy is written honestly from the current system and will additionally be reviewed by counsel before wide public launch.
